The walls are bare and stone cold white

And the ceiling looms above

As the sheets are stiff and unwelcoming

She slowly turns to him

Her restless eyes now fall on his lashes

And she feels warmth permeate through her

And once again her body thaws

The cold tears melt into salt

And her eyes gently close

She hopes to lay in peace tonight

Though the moon never sleeps

It watches her

She senses her sadness even in her dreams

Her body tries to find him and keep her safe

But she wanders, lost.

Until the morning this darkness

Haunts her to the core.
