I am in the dark of the darkness
And the valley of the heart
Soft humming drone in my eardrum
And the swinging pendulum
In a white, weightless room
When the bubbling water rushes by
Clear and cold in the stream
I run to catch up to it
But I stumble and lose my balance
And the world outside the window
Is locked behind the pane
Dreary, dirty, and dizzy disdain
I flail, my arms drowning
And the peaceful watery sound
Hums again in my eardrum
And my reality
Has hushed into the silent white room.
Ticking and clanging
The swinging pendulum.
