Have mercy, I’m lost
In a valley of hopelessness
As my body gets older
And my mind is a puzzle of thoughts
Don’t hurt me anymore
This life
Don’t break me anymore as my
Bones and my organs and my skin
Are shattered with grief and loss
I am lost in this world
That is running away without me
Hold on to me because I can’t seem to
Catch up with you
Take my hand and say you’ll carry me
Through this web of grief
As I’m swept away in a pool of muddy swamp
Say it will all be okay and I am not alone
Tell me you’ll carry this weight of
Sadness that envelops
My eyes which spill over
Have mercy on my soul I’m so lost
Ripped open by pain and trouble
I’ve been pushed to my limit and I want
To survive
Throw out my arms to spread my wings
And fly over these things
And look down upon my sorrow
Turn it into wisdom and peace
And let hope fly in me once again.
