image of a couple just married, two young hearts, sitting on a dock

How could this happen
After thirteen years
I was a girl who fell for you in every way
You were everything, my young heart

You stole my every wish and dream
In the form of you, I had
Everything

From the time we fell in love in chairs
To the room you’re in upstairs
A chasm created as wide as miles
We were once in each other’s arms
One day, long ago

Our eyes locked
From the tears that flooded like a
Dam bursting from hell
You kept me safer than a swaddled baby

Now I am alone in a huge world
That has enveloped me in its arms
My smile is a distant memory
Of a moment I can no longer reach
Your joy was stolen by me
And thrown into the far fetched
Abyss

We’ve aged, as these years have stopped for no one
Merciless in its grasp of the ultimate truth
That love is a mystery and a metaphor
For nothing

True love does not exist

And my young heart is no more.
